Dr. Manley is a licensed clinical psychologist highly trained in evidence-based psychological treatments (such as CBT, DBT, CPT and motivational interviewing) and insight-oriented therapy. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Palo Alto University/Pacific Graduate School of Psychology. During her graduate training, she worked at the Stanford University Depression Research Center where she conducted original treatment efficacy outcome research (earning her distinction remarks) and became an expert in empowerment, anxiety, depression and PTSD/trauma. Later, Dr. Manley continued her clinical training at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, where she focused on treating veterans experiencing combat PTSD and severe mental illness. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship with world-renowned psychologist and psychodynamic theorist, Dr. Jeffrey Binder.
Dr. Manley founded Nashville Therapist, LLC in 2015, and continues to specialize in the treatment of PTSD, depression, anxiety, and narcissism (both narcissists and survivors of narcissistic abuse). Her primary focus is treating her patients, and because of her background Dr. Manley is particularly skilled when treating individuals living highly-demanding lifestyles (such as industry professionals, entertainers, touring musicians, physicians, lawyers and more). She attributes much of her insight and skill with this population to her upbringing and maintains a very private practice designed to accommodate this demographic, as well as their realistic need for a higher degree of discretion. Overall, Dr. Manley believes in using state-of-the-art scientific research and treatment methods to provide personalized therapy that reflects her excellent training, reduces symptoms and improves her patients’ quality of life.
Apart from providing therapy, Dr. Manley enjoys educating the public about mental health issues via radio interviews, consulting with writers and television producers, and supervising and training other psychologists. Most recently, Dr. Manley enjoyed contributing opinions to Forbes.com, Health.com, various production houses and appearing on Nashville Today (WSM AM650).
